I'm with La Union del Pueblo Entero (LUPE) and I'm voting for Prop 1 for a Healthy Hidalgo County!

Pledge to Vote for Prop 1 for a Healthy Hidalgo County!

13932792_830177497126796_1537170320717563709_n.jpgAs a community union founded by farmworker leader Cesar Chavez, La Union del Pueblo Entero has the privilege of responding to the needs of some of the most humble members of our community: colonia residents working to improve the quality of their neighborhoods, immigrants working to provide a better life for their families, low-income parents working to pave the road toward opportunity so that one day their children are better off than they are. It is a joy to work with these dedicated, hardworking community members toward the goal of creating a better Rio Grande Valley where all have access to opportunity. But standing in the way of that opportunity is our county’s dismal access to healthcare.

We want to see the Rio Grande Valley thrive, but without strong health care services, including specialty care not available here, we can’t reach our potential as a region. It is a joy to work with these dedicated, hardworking community members toward the goal of creating a better Rio Grande Valley where all have access to opportunity. But standing in the way of that opportunity is our county’s dismal access to healthcare.

Help us travel to Austin to push for drivers' licenses by donating today.

Family is a core Texas value. Yet Texas keeps immigrant parents without documents in a state of fear of being deported away from their children by denying them access to drivers’ licenses.

Help us defend our communities against anti-immigrant legislation and push for immigrant-friendly policies like drivers' licenses in the next legislative session.

  • Sign the Pledge: I will fight for immigrant rights in the 2015 Texas legislative session

The 2015 Texas Legislative Session is underway and anti-immigrant politicians have already file bills to get rid of in-state tuition for Texas DREAMers and to allow police to ask for papers and enforce immigration law. Rather than mourn, LUPE members are preparing to defend the rights of our communities. Join them by pledging to fight for immigrant rights in the next legislative session.

Sign the Pledge: Vote for Colonias

    607 votes

    gloria_and_friend_voto_voz.jpg

Colonias need streetlights, drainage and other services. Politicians believe they can ignore colonias because, according to them, colonia residents don't vote and city residents don't care about colonias. We know that's not true because we have the support of people from all walks of life. We'll prove that to our elected officials when we meet with them after the elections and show them the number of vote pledges we get.

The more vote pledges we get, the more power colonia residents will have to demand that elected officials take action. Show your support for colonias by pledging to vote today.

Pledge: Today, I make my commitment for my family, community and country. I will vote in these elections.

Promesa: Hoy, hago un compromiso con mi familia, mi comunidad y mi país. Yo votaré en estas elecciones.

Join the "Ven con Ten" Campaign!

    68 votes

Join the *Ven con Ten* campaign and multiply your impact at the polls times ten! Ven con Ten means “come with ten” in Spanglish. It is the idea that each one of us can multiply our impact at the polls by asking our friends and family to vote.

Here's how it works: You make a list of ten voters that you know (including yourself) and then ask them personally to register and get out to vote for reasons that are important to you. By using your established relationships with voters, they are more likely to actually vote and you multiply your impact on this November's election.

When you pledge your support for the Ven con Ten campaign, you pledge to get your list of ten voters out to the polls this November.

I just called and the woman who answered was very nice. I asked for the person in charge of immigration issues, but that person wasn’t available so I left my message with the woman who answered. She took down my name, zip code and email. Happy calling!
